Cósmica: A Leonas Garden

Recently, a wonderful collective of women held Cósmica, a art show that featured the work of young female artists from working class backgrounds who created collages, photography, paintings, and other hybrid mediums of art work. This group of women drew inspiration from their ancestral roots and rituals, the borderlands experiences, Chicana artists of the 70s, Latin American political history, and each other. These women, along with their artwork push what it means to be a Latina. Take a look at how critical consciousness, intersectionality and the creativity spawned from a need for self discovery and self love in a society where the work of young women of color is dismissed or deemed as inferior. I am sure that your soul will be stirred.
