Visual storyteller, M. Tony Peralta blessed NYC with yet another exciting solo exhibit. For one week, the Lower East Side housed Rolos & Icons, a screen print on canvas show of some of our favorite icons re-imagined with rolos. Rolos or hair rollers (in English) are a staple in Dominican culture and a part of the beautification process of women in this community. The icons highlighted in this exhibit included Frida Kahlo, Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman), Celia Cruz, La Lupe, Selena Quintanilla and even Dora The Explorer.
