Four Artists to Look Out For On May 5's Planet X Exhibition
Planet X is an all female experience and pop up-exhibition taking place in Astoria, Queens on Thursday, May 5th. Curated by myself, Curator Collective 5 and The NYC Grind,the event will be exhibiting over 23 female artists and a night of female performance artists. Planet X started as a conversation between me and Safiel Vonay about linking women together in a creative way. We specifically were looking for weird girls to come out. By weird we meant the artists, the rappers, the fashionistas, the rugged kind of New York City girls that everyone sees on the street and is fascinated by. In the past we've have artists come from Philadelphia, Michigan and Detroit amongst other cities. It isn't the average exhibition or showcase, it's a planet breathing and running on feminine vibrations. A celebration of female energy and creativity, Planet X is a world of it's own.

Kenricka

Kenricka's work highlights on the urban and black experience. Her commercial undertone and graffiti-styled illustrations is hip-hop centric yet embodying the styles of contemporary time. Her graphic design skills are admirable showcasing the multifaceted talents of digital artistry.
A Tribe Called Mel

Mel's nostalgic and retro designed artwork is needless to say, so New York. Her bright neon obscene and raw text buffs out old school sleazy women photography photos. Her work is undeniably ultra-feminine and makes me proud to have a pussy.
Ken Doll

A walking piece of art herself, Ken Doll's hyper sexual and yellow-pigmented illustrations of Black women is no stranger to the art scene. Her unique style of work is refreshingly tasteful and instantly recognizable on any gallery wall. I still get excited seeing her latest works.
Butterfly Mush

Butterfly Mush has an art style that screams hard-ass femme. Her women are usually exposed and very bad in nature. The type of confidence and carelessness in a woman that would intimidate the scariest of men. Butterfly's work is colorful and cheery yet raw and unfiltered in how she exercises her artistic freedom using nudity to convey a powerful message to women about freedom.
