Soundscape: An Ode To Venus

Social distancing and living in Harlem again has re-invigorated my music and percussionist side. During the weeks that led up to my Taurus Sun birthday, I gathered the songs that encompass the range of emotions and genres that carry my soul. I’ve spent more time listening to music - old and new and sounds from a plethora of decades and influences. Perhaps, one of the great effects of living in quarantine with 3 generations of women.

From the discographies of Afro-Latin journeys via the 1960’s sound of Mongo Santamaria to the call and response anthems as notarized by Teena Marie, each of these hand-selected songs touches, move or fire up a piece of my being. Let me take you on a bilingual millennial journey from starting from the 1960s to present-day 2021.
